"Sleeping Peasants" by Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso is probably the most well-known artist of the 20th century. He was born in Spain in 1881 and co-founded the Cubist movement, along with Georges Braque. He lived a long life and began his life as an artist at a very young age. He died in France in 1973.

I love the warm golds and blues and the rounded forms in "Sleeping Peasants", which he painted in 1919. This belongs to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, which I would love to visit.

I love paintings of lavender fields! I found this beautiful print of a painting by British artist, David Short. I have been working on a small painting of an iris and the colors in this are inspiring me to complete it!

"Eiffel Tower Through Gates" by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel

This beautiful photograph of the Eiffel Tower was taken by the designer of the tower, Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. He was born in France and lived from 1832-1923. The Eiffel Tower was built during 1887-1889 for the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris. I went up in the tower with my family on a visit to Paris in 2001. It was just awesome!

"Birthday" by Marc Chagall

Marc Chagall was a Russian-born French artist who lived from 1887 - 1985. "Birthday" is one of my favorites of his oil paintings, which was painted in 1915. It is fun and romantic and makes me think the man is bending over backwards to please his woman.

"Tuscan Poppies" by Parrocel

I would love to travel to Italy. I keep coming across these beautiful paintings of Tuscany. "Tuscan Poppies" is gorgeous! I wish I could say more about the artist, but I was unable to find any information about Parrocel online. I found several artists with that same last name, but their work was completely different, so I don't think it was any of those. If I find out, I will update this post.
